Student Expectations
*Be on time and have all materials ready for class including instrument, instrument accessories (bow, rosin, cleaning cloth, ect.) music binder, book and a pencil.
*The orchestra room is a safe place. Be courteous and respectful to teachers, guests, other students and their property.
*Ask for and make up all missed work in a timely manner.
*Refrain from eating, drinking, or chewing gum in the orchestra room and practice rooms.
*The orchestra office is a place of business for the director. Enter only with permission.
*Take special care of school property in your possession such as music, instruments and lockers.
*Playing a string instrument requires short fingernails. Students cannot play in tune with proper technique if they have fingernails extending beyond the end of the finger. Students will be required to keep the fingernails trimmed so as to achieve optimal sound.
*Practice daily.

C = Conversation
- *Refrain from talking during tuning.
- *Use a quiet voice when passing musical information to a classmate.
- *Refrain from plucking strings unless Teacher gives you permission.
H = Help:- *Raise your hand before speaking.
A = Activity: - *Follow Directions.
- *Include music in your life and gain insight into how music is a part of others’ lives.
- *Become sensitive listeners and be able to describe the music.
M = Movement:- *Keep hands, feet, and all other objects to yourself.
- *Sit upright in your chair with your back away from chair.
P = Participation:- *Work in a group setting.
- *Work towards perfect intonation.
S = Supplies:- *Instrument with bow and case
- *Pencil
- *Music Binder – black, 1’’, 3-ring binder
- *Music and Method Book
- *Shoulder Rest – Violin and Viola
- *Soft cloth for cleaning the instrument
- *Rosin
- Fine Arts (Art, Band, Choir, Orchestra, Theatre) Spring Trip
Qualifications:
- Students must have been enrolled in the elective the entire school year.
- Students who move to CD mid-year must be enrolled in the elective upon arrival and before form submission date.
- Students must have been eligible (70 and above) in all classes 4 out of 5 six weeks.
- Students may not receive any referral that results in SAC, suspension or DAEP in the second semester.
- All trip funds are non-refundable.
